Visit of Representatives of the Embassies of the Netherlands and Norway and NALED

On July 12, 2023, the Tamish Research and Development Institute was visited by Mr. Koen van Ginneken, Regional Agricultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Netherlands; Ms. Mila Mirković, Agricultural Advisor at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Serbia; Mr. Victor Fransen, Agricultural Advisor at the Embassy of Norway in Serbia; as well as representatives of NALED, Todo Terzić, Regional Reform Manager, and Jovana Perić, Regulatory Reform Associate, along with representatives of the Balkan Eco-Innovations association.

The Director, Dr. Svetlana Roljević Nikolić, introduced the guests to the Institute’s areas of scientific research, its human and infrastructural capacities, as well as its plans and directions for future work and development. Dr. Roljević Nikolić emphasized the Institute’s focus on the creation and implementation of innovations, particularly in the fields of phytonematology and regenerative agriculture. As the meeting was focused on models of regenerative agriculture, Bogdan Garalejić, BSc Eng., presented the Institute’s long-term experiments with different soil tillage systems and organic farming, which have been conducted at the experimental field since 2006.

       
The Agricultural Attaché of the Embassy of the Netherlands, Mr. Koen van Ginneken, expressed interest in the system of knowledge transfer to end users. In this context, Maja Sudimac, BSc Eng., Coordinator of the Advisory Service, presented the functioning of the advisory and forecasting-reporting service, leading to the conclusion that there is potential for cooperation with NALED in this area.

Assistant Director for Scientific Research and Development, Dr. Nikola Ćurčić, highlighted the significant research activity of the Institute’s scientists, particularly in terms of publications over the past year. He pointed out that support from Mr. Koen van Ginneken in establishing connections with Dutch scientific institutions of a similar profile would be of great importance for the Tamish Institute. Mr. van Ginneken welcomed this initiative and noted that strengthening cooperation between scientific institutions of the two countries holds strong potential.

The guests also toured the “Tamish Agrolab” laboratory, as well as the experimental field, with special emphasis on trials conducted within regenerative agriculture systems.
