A delegation of the KWS company visited the experimental field of the Research and Development Institute “Tamiš.” The guests were welcomed by the Director, Dr Svetlana Roljević Nikolić, Principal Research Fellow, and Dr Nikola Ćurčić, Senior Research Associate, who briefly presented the history, development, and scope of activities of the Institute. The visitors were introduced to the research infrastructure, key equipment investments made over the past three years, and the medium-term development plan of the Institute.
The long-standing cooperation and friendly relationship between the Institute and KWS were also highlighted, considering that several outstanding experts currently working at KWS began their professional careers at the Tamiš Institute. The participants were also addressed by Mr Miodrag Stanković, General Director of KWS for Serbia, who emphasized the 170-year tradition of the KWS company, as well as the scope and importance of the genetic material of various crops that the company develops and continuously improves. Director Stanković underlined the importance of cooperation with the Tamiš Institute in order to promote innovation in the agricultural sector of the Republic of Serbia, not only through the development and adaptation of new crop varieties but also through other innovative solutions.
Additional remarks were given by Dr Tihomir Gujaničić, Agroservice Manager; Ferenc Šmit, Chief Manager; Sava Krgović, Research Center Manager; and Dr Zdravko Hojka, Manager for Agroservice and Product Development. After the round table discussion, representatives of KWS visited the winter cereal trials at the Institute’s experimental field, as well as the “Tamiš Agrolab” laboratory.
During the visit, it was agreed to strengthen and expand cooperation, both in the field of experimental trials and in laboratory testing and services.
