Jovan Lazarević, Research Associate at our Institute, successfully defended his PhD dissertation entitled “Weed Control in Angelica (Angelica archangelica L.) Crop Using Mulches and Herbicides” on May 20, 2026, at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. Within the framework of this research, J. Lazarević investigated selected non-chemical and chemical weed management measures, assessing their effects on weed suppression. At the same time, he evaluated the impact of these measures on the cultivated crop itself by recording angelica root and seed yields, as well as by analyzing the yield and chemical composition of essential oils extracted from angelica roots and seeds. The dissertation was completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dragana Božić, Full Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. The dissertation defense was conducted before a committee composed of: Prof. Dr. Sava Vrbničanin, Full Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade; Prof. Dr. Katarina Jovanović Radovanov, Full Professor, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade; and Dr. Tatjana Marković, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Medicinal Plant Research “Dr Josif Pančić”, Belgrade.
The staff of the Institute “Tamiš” extends its sincere congratulations to Jovan Lazarević on this significant academic achievement and wishes him continued success and further advancement in his scientific career.
