of IRI Tami\u0161 Researchers at the \u201c2nd European Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and Food\u201d and Visit to the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, University of Sarajevo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">In the period from June 3 to 6, 2024, in Sarajevo, the \u201c2nd European Symposium on Phytochemicals in Medicine and Food\u201d (2-EuSPMF) was held, organized by the International Association of Dietetic Nutrition and Safety (IADNS) in cooperation with the University of Sarajevo.\n<br><br>The aim of 2-EuSPMF was to explore new advances in the field of phytochemical components in medicine and food, providing scientists of all generations with an excellent platform for exchanging ideas, discussing challenges, sharing success stories, and establishing new research collaborations.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This scientific event is recognized in European and international circles as a high-quality forum for research in the fields of chemical, agricultural, health, and biological sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">As part of the conference, Helena Todorovi\u0107, a junior research assistant from the Tamish Research and Development Institute, presented a paper entitled:\n\u201cAntioxidant potential of green synthesized Ag NPs, essential oil, and extracts of Origanum vulgare L. leaves\u201d, authored by Latifeh Pourakbar, Helena Todorovi\u0107, Neda Farnad, Sina Siavash Moghaddam, Svetlana Roljevi\u0107 Nikoli\u0107, and Jelena Popovi\u0107-\u0110or\u0111evi\u0107.<br><br>The work was presented as a poster within the section Natural Resources of Bioactive Compounds and resulted from collaboration between IRI Tami\u0161, the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade, the Faculty of Science, and the Faculty of Agriculture of Urmia University (Iran).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can view the abstract by clicking style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From farm to table<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Analytical methods and biotechnology in phytomedicine<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Key speakers at the symposium included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prof. <\/span><b>Chao Zhao<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, China<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Prof. <strong>Maurizio Battino<\/strong>, Universit\u00e0 Politecnica delle Marche, Italy<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Prof. <strong>Maria Daglia,<\/strong> University of Naples Federico II, Italy<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Prof. <strong>Jianbo Xiao,<\/strong> University of Vigo, Spain<\/li>\n<li class=\"translation-block\">Prof. <strong>Mohamed A. Farag, <\/strong> Cairo University, Egypt<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the conference, on June 7, 2024, a visit was organized to the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Sarajevo with the aim of gaining new knowledge and improving existing expertise through training.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During this visit, Helena Todorovi\u0107 completed basic training in the use of the Kjeldahl apparatus in the Laboratory for Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, and Land Reclamation, under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Emina Sijahovi\u0107.\nDuring her stay, MSc chemist Helena Todorovi\u0107 became familiar with the working methods of the Institute for Soil Science, Agrochemistry, and Land Reclamation laboratories, which play a significant role in scientific research covering a wide range of topics including soil science, plant nutrition, environment, food, and water.
