Dragana Stevanović, Research Associate at the Research and Development Institute “Tamiš”, successfully defended her doctoral dissertation on March 2, 2026, entitled“Production potential of maize hybrids with accelerated grain moisture release at different sowing densities”at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. The subject of this doctoral dissertation was the influence of sowing density on the expression of productive and morphological traits of different maize hybrids, with special emphasis on the dynamics of grain moisture release and achieved yield. The dissertation is based on multi-year experiments conducted at the Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje, as well as on a detailed analysis of the obtained results, which indicate the importance of proper hybrid selection and optimal sowing density in order to achieve stable and high yields. The results of the doctoral dissertation have direct application in improving maize cultivation technology, as well as in planning seed and commercial production. The research provides a scientific basis for more efficient management of the production potential of hybrids under different agro-ecological conditions.

The doctoral dissertation was carried out under the mentorship of Dr Ljubiša Kolarić, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade, and Dr Marijenka Tabaković, Principal Research Fellow at the Maize Research Institute Zemun Polje, and was evaluated by the committee composed of: Dr Ljubiša Živanović, Full Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade; Dr Vesna Perić, Senior Research Associate at the Maize Research Institute “Zemun Polje”; Dr Svetlana Roljević Nikolić, Principal Research Fellow at the Research and Development Institute “Tamiš”; and Dr Irena Radinović, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Belgrade. The collective of the Institute Tamiš proudly congratulates Dragana Stevanović on the successful defense of her doctoral dissertation.
