A Field Day dedicated to small grains, oilseed rape, and plant protection was held at the experimental field of the Tamish Research and Development Institute. Experts from the Institute introduced agricultural producers to new technologies and knowledge that can facilitate and improve their work on farms.
Each year, the Tamish Research and Development Institute organizes Field Day events twice. Farmers were presented with how the introduction of new knowledge and technologies into the production process can contribute to the economic sustainability of agricultural production on their farms.
– “As you all know, the main mission of the Institute is the introduction of new knowledge and technologies into the production process, with the primary goal of achieving the economic sustainability of agricultural production on our farms. For this region, it is essential to have such an institute which, through its independent work, provides farmers with precise and reliable information they can always rely on. Our recommendations are always well received. Over the past 10 years, our Institute has tested and introduced into production more than 100 wheat varieties, 40 barley varieties, 10 rye varieties, and numerous plant protection formulations. A large number of these resources have been recognized and adopted by producers on their farms, and we consider this to be our success as well,” emphasized Svetlana Roljević Nikolić, Director of the Tamish Research and Development Institute.
The Institute has strong support from the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as from the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry.
Aleksandar Panovski, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Secretariat for Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, stated:
– “For the Provincial Secretariat, professional and advisory work in agriculture is of great importance. For years, we have had dedicated program lines through which we support and allocate significant funds for the work of agricultural advisory services. Here, we also have a scientific institution—the Tamish Research and Development Institute in Pančevo. This event is of great importance as it enables farmers and producers to meet under the umbrella of a professional institution.”
At the Field Day, Institute experts presented the results of their research and testing conducted on as many as 68 wheat varieties, 18 barley varieties, and 10 varieties of rye and oats, as highlighted by Svetlana Roljević Nikolić.
